Breastfeeding ouch

Before the birth of my baby I decided I wanted to breastfeed, I was 100% sure, during my time talking to my midwife and attending antinatal classes i was informed that breastfeeding should not be painful.
However I heard a completely different answer from many other mothers who attempted breastfeeding, I received an answer once referring to the pain of breastfeeding being similar to ' blades going through your nipples'! Not that I have ever had blades through my nipples.
Because I received very mixed reviews some really negative and some really positive I decided to give it a go, during my time in the hospital I experienced no pain, he was latching on well and I thought YES I've got this! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones!
when I left the hospital and went home my breast started to get sore, and the more I fed my son the more they started hurting!! I was finding the pain so hard to deal with that I cried to my partner saying I couldn't do it anymore. But don't worry ladies the pain does go away eventually so don't give up, I decided to push through the pain and just keep goin for the sake on my baby, so I bought a nipple cream and I stuck nipple pads in the freezer then put them on for some relief. It sounds crazy but it does actually work, so for any other mothers worried about it or experiencing the pain just push through those first few days, it does stop, and it is worth it in the end! It's FREE, nothing is free anymore! And it's extremely good for the baby.
